Dasavatharam Review

Cast: Kamal Hassan, Asin, Mallika Sherawat, Jayaprada, and others

Direction: KS Ravi Kumar

Music: Himesh Reshamiya, Re-recording by Devi Sri Prasad.

Producer: Oscar films

As expected the much hyped and much awaited magnum opus and film with thrilling climax has finally hit the screens with its lavish way of entry. This film has been totally powered by finance to make it a sure shot blockbuster of 2008. The visual effects and the capturing of scenes into frames are amazing and awesome. Kamal lives to his fans expectations and succeeds in mastering the 10 avatars with his impeccable acting and expressions.

Story

The films first frame showcases the on par conflict between the much praised vaishnavites and shivaites. And this whole scene is depicted to be a 12th century era. The vaishnavites are adamant on the opinion that their lord Vishnu is the supreme god and on the other hand the shivaites claim that lord Shiva is the supreme lord of the whole world. This is the main reason for the conflict between the two sects and is peppered by some social reforms which add some heat to the flame.

King Chola a staunch shivaite succeeds in killing Rangaraja Namibiar (Kamal) by tying him to a big idol of lord Vishnu and drowning him in the sea along with the statue.

Then the next frame of the scene shifts to the present world that is the 20th century. Govidrajulu who is nicknamed as Govind (Kamal) works as a scientist in USA techno lab. When the September 11th attack on the word trade center takes place, the USA government consulate dictates the scientist to prepare a chemical which can tame and tackle terrorism.
Govind happens to be one of the scientists who is among the team of scientists who develop the chemical which helps in tackling terrorism. Meanwhile his boss – the in charge of the scientist team has other ideas. He shakes hand with some evil pangs of the society and wants to sell them the chemical substance. But being a well natured guy, Govind makes the plan fail and succeeds in smuggling the chemical substance.
Govind is now chased by the villains in order to kill him and take the chemical substance into their hands. One of the villains is CIA agent Fletcher (Kamal). The vial is successfully smuggled into India and is couriered into India. Along with it Govind, Fletcher and a secret under cover lady CIA agent played by Mallika sherawat and onto Indian soil.

The courier reaches the vaishnav math and is addressed on the name of a old lady which another character played by Kamal Hassan. Asin happens to be the granddaughter of the old lady and Govind wants to take the vial of chemical substance into his own hands as it can destroy lacs of people if it goes into the hands of wrong persons.

Then the breath taking climax is framed. The old lady in order to save the people hides the vial in the statue of Lord Permal. But cunning natured Fletcher comes to know this and successfully grasps it. He drinks the chemical substance and soon an epidemic breaks out.

The climax is that how the people are saved from the epidemic and how the hero succeeds in ending the evil and saving the earth.

Performances

Kamal has proved that he is a versatile and superb actor in the whole India his 10 avatars of priest, pop singer, George bush, Fletcher, chief of Raw, social activist, old lady are impeccable and awesome . The apt get up to the role is truly applaudable and it can be said that only kamal can do this film without any hiccups.

Asin gave her role a real justification by playing as a chaste girl of Chidambaram. He another, but brief role as a wife of Rangaraja of 12th century is very appraisable.

Mallika Sherawat plays the role of a CIA agent with perfection. Her hot pole dance will surely raise the temperatures in the theatres. She adds the glamour element into the film and does her job very well.

The other characters played by Jayaprada and others are also apt and very well enacted.

Music by Himesh is good and the production and the world class graphic work is truly applaudable.

The storyline is pretty simple but is well weaved and thrilling. The suspense element is maintained from the beginning to the end. The lavish sets, locations, the costumes are worth mentioning. The words to narrate the scenes are truly very less as the scenes are very well framed. The twists and turns make the movie even more thrilling and suspense filled.

The Tsunami scenes in the 12 century are very well captured onto the camera and look realistic.

On the whole this film DASAVATHRAM is a super hit and will entertaining the audience to their hearts content.

Saw first show in S’pore. Probably the first screening. Just back….
I am no fan of any actor but this is the best Tamil movie I have seen so far.

Kamalahaasan usually overdoes in his screenplay, like Alavandan, Hey Ram. In this movie it was perfect. As usual some may not understand the theory of the movie. Again in the end, whether there is God or not. But it is perfectly told, not hurting anyones feelings.

Although some make-ups are not that awsome some are really great. There is everything, comedy, action, adventure in a balanced dose and very good picturisation. There is no Tamil Movie Bullshits. No Love duets. The Whole family would enjoy the movie. (Thanks Kamal for avoiding your customary Muccha, although Asin and Mallika were willingly around) I was amazed by the the Historical part. Just Wonderful… The Hollywood Wallahs should learn something from Nammavars. It is

Kamalahaasan has proved that he is a born actor once again. His hard work speaks for itself. Asin is wonderful. The others have done their part well.

NOT TO BE MISSED. A Hollywood movie that talks Tamil.
        Thats my verdict

        • Vijay, Cardiff, United Kingdom Says:

Im just back from watching ‘Dasavatharam’ at cineworld. I wonder what to write about it. .

Its absoultely a 3 hour 140 crore $40 million dollar blunder. Where can I start. The opening was really good and slowly the Computer Graphics showed the clues of what was going to come.

There were whistles in the air when the world actor was shown on screen and it felt like India for a minute. But after that none in the theatre uttered a word other than a couple of laughs here and there.

Usually we get to see a lot of hollywood movie previews before any show and all of us in the room were expecting a movie that equals in technology and CG from dasavatharam because of its hollywood budget. But we felt so bad in the end that we felt like we were all let down by our favorite star.

          The Good

          Kamals Acting

          The Bad

          MAKE UP
Even the most low buget movie ever produced in India will have a better make up man from the one that was hired to do in this movie. Utterly fake and is bluntly shown on screen with out any post production. That one mistake from the great actor has cost him the whole movie. As he dons 10 roles in the movie, 9 out 10 looks like a MAKE UP DISASTER. Whether it was the social sc worker who was too black or the old grandma who looked like a melted candle stick with bad paint or the english villian who looks like a doll with a gun and fake glasses or the Japanese Man who looks like Chinese guy with 3rd degree burns on his face. It was a big big blunder..even you would say, I could have dont a better job for you Kamal Sir why hire an Idiot to do it.

          THE COMPUTER GRAPHICS
For most of you who do not know about CG I will give you an info almost 70% of this movie is Computer Generated…you know why. When you have to sync two characters potrayed by the same actor on one screen, you have to use CG for that. Which is why you might notice that 70% of the movie was ruined by the children who where given the oppurtunity to create the Graphics for this movie. I call the CG artists of this movie children because even my class mates who majored in Animation will not be able to make such CG BLUNDERS even if they tried. I think most of my class mates had better CG than this film on their final year projects. Kamal Ji you just offered your lovely movie in a platter to a bunch of CG Monkeys who have absolutely no idea what CG is, they have clearly proved their worth by Creatively turning your movie to Absolute Crap. When 70% of your movie is ruined by these guys you dont have to worry any further on where the movie will go next –Trash.

          THE DIRECTOR
Why would a world actor appoint a brilliant mind like Mr.K.S. Ravikumar to direct his wonderful movie?
          Ans:
So that the whole world comes to know that Mr.K.S.Ravikumar has absolutely no idea how to make a movie. Why would you have to spend $35 million dollars to prove that. To know whether or not he is capable all you should have done is ask him some basic questions on Film Making. I guess his answer would be ‘Kamal Sir is Great’. I know Kamal would have directed this movie if he had the time but he still appointed this guy so as to share responsibility. Who can blame the all perfect Kamal. Its like when a perfect world is filled with imperfect humans. The imperfect humans being the camera man, cg director, director, makeup artist.

          The Camera Man
All Mr. Ravi Varman did was drag the camera through out every set of the movie with a Jimmy Jib- its a crane. Basically the lighting was so bad that it made the whole film look like it was an extract from a Tamil Serial. I guess he did not use a Arri Flex -Movie camera at all for this movie because i never saw a scene in the movie that was Film like.

          THE MUSIC
Complete Crap - the background score was so bad that it felt nothing like a big budget movie.

          THE PRODUCER
Im really sorry about your loss but you have to move on. Every one makes mistakes like you even I have done the same long time back when I had 140 crores;(

Finally if you are a die hard fan of Kamal you can watch this film once without hating him. But dont try watching it again.

The much anticipated movie Dasavatharam is out and not up to the mark. It is quite unsatisfying except first 10 minutes of movie.

Story line is poor and the taking was pathetic. KS Ravikumar not at all justified the characters in the movie and he failed to use the resources he had. Universal hero Dr. Kamal Haasan is at his best. There is no comedy at all in the movie. There is no role for Mallika Sherawat except for an item song and average performance from Asin. However, the music and background was wondrous. Picturization of the songs is not at all in force. Overall, the movie was vicious except the makeup of Dr. Kamal Haasan in ten different getups.

KS Ravikumar took 2½ years to make this bummer.

Music sucks to the core…..even kamal himself can compose music far better than this……

But film has made simply super to satisfy art lovers, graphic lovers, screen players, action lovers, acting lovers and all department.

So eventhough some pitfalls remaining film overcome and made the film as complete entertrainer.

Kamal the only actor has the ability to do like this acting. No can touch his acting.

This film proves that not only masala movie can bag multi crore profit but also some good art, entertrain movie also.

No secondary thought to praise about Kamal’s effort. But it should not hide others efforts. In 1952, Mr.Nambiyar acted a film with 11 roles. I dont think (up to my knowledge) no other actor acted more than this no of roles. But if you take Navarathiri Or Nambiyar’s movie, characters are relevent and it has good story line. But in dasavatharam..? Its totally missing.

For original kamal fans (who expects his variety) this is total flop. We didnt expect this from him. Better he has to go back to his old gang (Crazy, Singeetham, Srinivasan, KB) and give a good film.

Hats Off! Mr. Kamal, this is a splendid effort in brining an out-of-the-box concept and complex story telling style to Indian Cinema.

The initial part of the movie should be watched very carefully, you’d understand that the audience will start experiencing “Chaos Theory” and how the mother nature invovles lives of various people in delaying the delivery of biological wmd to a social criminal.

Kamal has been highly successful in executing his concept and in-coherency in storyline is a deliberate act to explain “Chaos Theory”.

This is a very intelligent movie - not a masala movie.

If you want to enjoy an intellectual work, this is the movie to watch.

Not sure if this will create commercial landmarks, but sure to bring in new concepts, new story telling styles, new technologies to Indian Cinema.

                                            KUDOS to the entire team!

Every technician involved in this movie should really feel proud to be associated with Dasavatharam.
Special Thanks to Kamal for his persistence in bringing out a variety everytime.

I saw this movie in US today. The expectation was too high. Kamal haasan & co should have called one public guy to watch the preview.

This movie is not worth watching even as a free show. There were 10 different characters. But, Where is the story? Thrilling movie became so funny & irritating?

Very ugly story discussion ever made in Kamal Hassan Movies so far. No audience were happy after the movie.

Where is Mahanathi, Avvai Shanmugi and Thenali and where is this utter flop movie?

Only one character Mr Balram Naidu has scored in this movie.

I would suggest Kamal, Ravikumar & Ravichandran to watch this movie from starting to end.

Super flop, More irritating and doesn’t feel like Kamal’s Movie. Waste of Time & Money.

After watchin Kamala’s pseudo-intellectual interview, i thought i’ll go and watch it..but it was a disgrace for indian cinema..the make-up was horrible, the plot was terrible, the acting was annoying and it was just such a bad movie that tamilians should revolt against it. Shame on the creators of it for hyping it so much.

Only the dumbest will be entertained by this d-grade piece of crap movie. And seems like there are plenty of dumbos here.

The make up looked terrible in almost all the characters. The main kamal .. govind was the worst.. absolutely not kamal.

Balram naidu was the only role that i could applaud. Unfortunately kamal has it all wrong.. music, dialogues, story line, jokes..

Though there are some loop holes in the movie Kamal, has been very cautious that this should be a movie for all classes.. If you go in to watch the movie like a Virumandi or Hey Ram kind then sorry.. This is not your film… This is such a master piece of Kamal that, he has shown his knowledge on technologies., hard work n passion for cinema.. Of course there are unwanted characters in the film it is obvious it jus adds to the credit of the film.. nothing else… Please do not expect a STEVEN SPIELBERG OR CAMEROON movie to be made in Tamil or hindi… U are not the only audience of the film Mr. Arun.. There is a commercial side behind which it must reach all the audience and kamal has achieved it… this is not the best of Kamal Films but it is an example of how technology and money must be used rather than wasting it on luxurious sets. This movie uses technology at its best and worth watching once .

Indian movies have a long way to go in technology to match hollywoood movies. I don’t understand this as there are reports that most of the hollywood aimation is made in India, but when it comes to make an indian movie it failed so misearbly.

As someone pointed out, the cracks cracks within the first 10 mts on animation, it is being advertaised as the best technical movie in India, pathetic.

On the plot, it is any run of mill plot nothing spectacular. The worst part is, there is no nessecaity for those 10 characters, it is trust to create a record. Rajini’s make up in Shivaji as a foreinger was lot better and authentic than this movie.

Make up - third degree horror film make up. The two things atleast that was talked about this movie was special effects and make up, both of these are a big let down.

Net - net - it is a commercial movie ( not the league of Anbe Shivam or any other kamal’s classic), so I am forced to draw comparision with Shivaji. The opning song in Shivaji Balileka lifts the viewers spirit and the movie, there is nothing like that in this movie. Very mediocore not worth the budget mentioned.

There are few good things about the movie - the Balram Naidu is good and a good releif for otherwise very boring characters. Overall - a oevrtly hyped movie and a big let down by the technicians of the movie. Obviously Kamal has the responsibilty for all this - given kamal’s style of movies.

Posted on June 16th, 2008 at 5:29 pm

Kamal, starts with his extraordinary performance in the beginning 10mts story line but very soon makes a blunder (as usual) by not giving proper screenplay to understand the logic between the 12th century and 21st century picturization.

Kamal talks and talks and talks……which a normal guy couldn’t understand the logic between the 10 different roles.

Asin, also talks, talks and talks,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,for nothing..

Fletcher, (CIA villain - also kamal) just shoots with his pistol, shoots, shoots & shoots till all the audience get headaches.

Punjabi Kamal (comes with oil paint makeup) and kills with his tamil mix hindi pop song for abt 5mts.

Tall Muslim Kamal, talks an un-understandable tamil for nothing.

Japanese martial arts kamal first thinks that Scientist kamal is the killer of her sister; but in the climax says that he understood that the scientist kamal is good (how?????? no explaination)

Dalit leader all of a sudden comes with big news channel just like that and gives very long speech which a normal tamilian dont understands what he was talking about.

Airport Police Officer (also kamal) is a very funny cop with no logic at all. Tries to overact and criticizes telugu to the largest extent. But the accent is GOOD; whereas no logic at all.

Old lady (kamal) makeup is fantastic but the usage of this character is very less; therefore no heart touch scene noticed.

Bush role (kamal) is not at all threading to the movie and for no use (just added to do the parady).

Mallika sheravat as usual exposes and dies as usual.

The only area to appreciate is the graphic team; camera man and 10 different kamals makeup team

The entire movie is KAMAL, kamal and only kamal (except heroine asin EVERY WHERE kamal); so what to see in the movie.

                                                                                                    To be frank,
I agree that Kamal is an Universal actor, but he must understand
that he is very poor in story telling, screenplay writing and dialogue writing. He better handover these fields to other professionals like how Mr Shankar utilized Mr. Sujatha for all his hit movies.

Mr. Kamal must just concentrate acting only. One individual never and cannot satisfy all the departments which a normal audience expect from a movie.

Kamal must watch the below mentioned good screenplay movies which made wonders in the boxoffice.

low budget movies : ANAND in telugu & MOZHI in tamil which have a good story, screenplay and more over good entertainer which 70 crore budget dasavatharam couldn’t do.

Posted on June 19th, 2008 at 6:18 am

This afternoon around 2 pm there was a long queue to make advance bookings for the weekend. This definitely ought to be a box-office success.
It is good to see poeple bee-lining for this movie. Unfortunately, there is a lot of negative review about this movie. I strongly recommend people to watch the movie in the theaters and decide for themselves.

If you can pay $15 for a stupid Rajini movie, couldn’t you pay the basic $10 fare for this one. Take your family to this screening. I hope this movie will be a box-office hit world over. Kamal deserves more than a box-office hit.

Having seen this film in a prominent cinema hall recently, I feel disgusted to say that the film deserves to be totally banned from public exhibition on several counts. First and foremost, the word ‘Dasavataram’ is considered sacred and very much part of Hindu culture relating to Lord Vishnu’s reincarnations primarily for destruction of evil; the word any sane man born and brought up in Hindu culture easily understands. It is ironical that this actor has dared to title his film with the noble name which invokes instant veneration and what one actually see or feel is narration of his version of events essayed in his perverted mind, in the name of freedom of expression, without caring two hoots about the impact it is going to make on public mind especially in India. This so-called versatile actor has miserably failed in his attempt to portray ’secularism’ as he supposes and understands by choosing to portray other major communities in the country like Christians, Muslims and Sikh as do-gooders and that only Hindus are religious fanatics, right from the very first frame of the film. He has further shown that individuals belonging to international communities including NRIs are bent upon leashing acts of terror on fellow human beings in other parts of the globe, for the sake of gathering wealth and in the name of science & technology. In his colossal misadventure he has even involved the current President of the United States of America by mimicry as well as the known atheist Chief Minister of Tamilnadu in his current official position, as also a fleeting portrayal of past Chief Minister Ms. Jayalalitha by showing her aerial survey of Tsunami hit areas during December 2004, all obviously for the sake of seeking cheap publicity.

The picture titled ‘Dasavataram’ is truly an example of gross misuse of freedom of expression, not confining to ethical standards expected of an esteemed actor like Kamal Hassan and his reputed team, and as such it should be banned in toto from public exhibition.

Posted on June 21st, 2008 at 6:30 am

I could not agree more on what the reviewer has said. I honestly felt good that someone else also thinks like I do. I am a fan of Kamal but am not blind. Infact, I want $10 of the $15 I spent. The $5 he can keep for the Japanese and Naidu roles not because they were relevant but because they were funny. While I appreciate the effort put into this movie, I question its redundancy. I would have been very very happy if he had one character and that character was that Naidu guy…it was silly but funny at the least. To all those blind Kamal fans ask yourself this question - If I tried to cook 10 items and 2 of them turned out to be “average”, will you shut up and pay full price and be thrilled that I “tried” my hands at 10 different items or will you be upset that the experience “sucked”. Oh by the way 2 more things, my family “God” is Perumal but we are Iyers…so no partiality here. Also I am not trying to be partial to another actor that I am putting Kamal down. I watched Sivaji - The Loss the first day and wanted not the full price but 150% back for such a joke of a movie. South Indian movie goers compromise - I don’t!

If only Kamalahasan had resisted the tempation of acting in so many roles, he could have avoided the overuse of make-up, and saved the film from such non-human looking characters. There is a scene in the move where a police officer’s sub-ordinate talks highly of the number of languages his boss could speak, which is humorous because that topic is irrelevant when the survial of the human race is at stake. The same is true of the movie where the skill and talents of kamalahasan have been emphasized to the detriment of the movie itself. Unfortunately this is not funny for it has ruined what could have turned out to be a really great movie.

The only plus point of the movie is Kamal’s acting and effort put into every role. The worst damage to the movie has come from the make-up department. At times I felt I was watching an animation movie. Also the make-up masked Kamal’s facial expressions and made the whole thing look very artificial. I think it is time for Kamal to leave his obsession for make-up and come out with character roles as in Michael madan kamarajan. Secondly, though the chaos theory concept is good, it is not convincingly portrayed in the movie. It has left even an intellectual audience wondering what the film maker was trying to tell. I am sure the movie would have made no sense to the average lay public in rural India.
Himesh Reshammiya’s music is very average. They should have given this job to ARR or Illayaraja.
I am a huge fan of Kamal. He is easily the most talented actor in India. But Dasavatharam is a big let down. I hope Maruthanayagam doesnt disappoint.

I simply fail to understand why a brilliant person like Kamal Hasan would subject his fans to such senseless crap. There are surely better ways to fool the public.

It was so bad that I felt like a damn fool watching the movie. What was the director, actor and the make-up man thinking? Were they on drugs???

And to think the world has seen all the make-up and Computer Graphics dished out by Hollywood. It made me really sad. Can Indian filmmakers be so far behind?

None of the characters Kamal portrayed were looking convincing. The makeup screwed it up totally. The girl’s role was to purely screw up throughout the film.

The CG as someone else said above, must have been done by children who play and watch crappy video games. Even my old Xbox is more convincing.

I would really want to forget that I wasted my time watching this movie. The movie team must have made this film for the really illiterate class in Tamil Nadu, who will swallow everything in this film as a wonder, an amazing act of God or a bolt from the Heavens or something. For the rest of the developed world - please don’t waste your time watching this movie and then feeling depressed.

Lord Krishna dies of an arrow striking his lower leg. Now look at how Vincent was introduced. He appears when Asin is about to be molested and he saves her like Draupadi. Vincent is the Dalit diplomat, fights for land issue [soil issue to be exact] and dies from the metal rod striking his leg. Oh even five of Vincent’s men are drugged. Sounds familiar ???

Here Avatar Singh portrays that spirit by saying that he loves his woman more than anything and wants to live for her.

This essentially creates war among the Devas and asuras. Similarly today Bush facilitates war between you know whom… May be Kamal also indicates that this Avatar is a bit dumb like the tortoise…

I don’t think his talent was used in this movie at all… and typical of his movies, none of the other charecters get any kind of chance to display their talents… if it was an important charecter, Kamal would be doing it….

I thought some of the camera work was well done… may be the first and the last scenes were the best in the movie… (could have been way better). Although the first scene had nothing to do with the entire movie and was some how supposed to be connected to the last scene…..

I think the movie had a big problem of continuity. Over all I think the movie would have made a bigger impact if he had taken just one topic and explored it completely rather than forcing 10 roles most of them were totally unncessary….

Finally I would suggest more research on topics before exploring topics such as Chaos…. or even bio wepopns…

Kamal can feel good that he is the only one who has done 10 roles in one movie, but I don’t think this is a movie he should be proud of…

But this is one of the worst movies of Kamal. I wasted my precious dollars watching this stupid movie. It’s a total torture. I just can’t wonder how people are appreciating this movie. Hopefully marmayogi should be good.

This poorly written (credit goes to Kamal) and directed (forget KS RaviKumar whose only role in the film is to sing lullaby to Kamal) is one of the worst experiment of actor-writer Kamal Haasan.

In the beginning, Kamal talks about chaos theory. There is no chaos theory and butterfly effect in this film, it is all just CHAOS. Better check out the movie ‘Run Lola Run’ where the chaos theory has been subtly but superbly brought out.

I just don’t understand why the great actor stopped with ten roles in the movie. He could have also done the roles of the Lab Monkey (actually I believed it is also one of his avatars) Karunanidhi, Manmohan Singh and not to mention Jayalalitha.

First let this ever-young hunk be clear what he wants to say and what he believes. I’m asking this because in the movie Kodhai and Govind are supposed to be the reincarnation of Andal and Rangarajan Nambi, if that is so, why the hell does he speak atheism throughout the movie. (I just don’t want an escapism that it is the character of the movie and Kamal just don’t support both). And what an idiotic question that why does God let tsunami happen. First for heaven-sake let him understand the truth that Tsunami or for that matter any natural disaster is caused because of humans’ remorseless exploitation of nature. It’s humans who are to be blamed and not God. And this foolish scientist thoughtlessly blames God for Tsunami and shamelessly questions the existence of God. What bullshit!

To put it short - this is but a bullshit movie from a bullshit actor/writer Kamal Haasan.

The 1997 “Titanic” movie was like Dasavatharam 3 hours long and won 11 Oscar awards. I saw that movie once and frankly found it boring after 30 minutes because you knew how it would end.

In Dasavatharam, you can also guess how it will end but it was still entertaining. I saw Dasavatharam twice and found it more interesting the second time I watched it. You begin to notice the little nuances, the connection between the scenes, the characters, the meaning in the dialoques and some songs. And I wouldn’t mind seeing it again for the 3rd time.

So if I had 11 Oscar awards and had to give it to either Dasavatharam or Titanic, all 11 would go to Dasavatharam!

I have watched the movie in urban Tamil Nadu…where the people enjoyed it a lot

Not many Indian movies are done with such a technical richness

I have to say this despite being a hard core fan of Kamal. Tamil Movie industry is really going to dogs. On the contrary the Hindi industry is giving tremendous emphasis to story, scripts, execution, star cast (though lot is left to be desired on the music front. but this holds good for tamil music industry too.. remix syndrome). My suggestion is that ” kamal you just stick to acting and dont repeat the mistake of having such cluttered screen play, dialogue and story - It obviously shows when you and hasin (heroine) are making idiots of yourselves” .
