Bharathiraja who is famous for his emotional films is back with a bang now as his latest release Bommalattam offers a different but an interesting story. This movie well carved with some thrilling ending and the characters in the movie are well weaved according to the screenplay. Bommalattam is a perfect soothing breeze this week end as the movie adds up the zing to the crowds who are either bored up by usual love and sentiment dramas or the ridiculous non-sense tagged with action and skin show.
Story
Rana (Nana Patekar) is a famous director in the film industry and has the art to churn out a hit essence in his movies. He has the talent to toss up a dry subject into a fashionable thriller and so is well acclaimed for his talent in the whole film industry. One fine day he is vexed with the usual tantrums of his film actress who says that she had a pedicure recently and so will not swim in the salty waters of a beach. Instead she demands a mineral water pool which must be sketched as a sea view.
With the tantrums getting above the head, Rana fires the female lead and replaces her with another actress named Trishna (Ragini) who has immense professional acting skills in her. He terms her as a perfect actress who is dedicated and talented. She accepts to Rana’s directional advises and completes the shoot. On the day of her formal introduction to the media and industry an unfortunate thing happens. Trishna gets killed in a car accident which jumps from a hillock, but Rana who is present in the same car escapes out with some wounds.
Rana alleges that a serial killer is on the killing spree in order to cut down his cast and crew. Meanwhile, Rana’s wife (Ranjita) is always a big suspect of her husband as she suspects him to be involved with other ladies and also alleges him for having physical affairs with multi women.
Then to investigate the murder mystery CBI officer Vivek (Arjun) is pressed into service who has a personnel grudge against Rana as his girlfriend Anita (Kajal Agarwal) was an assistant director under him. The story then moves on with the investigation and the truths which are revealed. The audiences get a taste that, it is Rana who is the serial killer. But hold on? The real suspense will end when you people check out for yourselves. Who is the murder is suspense in the film which is worth watching after a patient reel flow.
Performances
The whole the movie Bommalattam revolves around Nana Patekar and so he grabs the total limelight. His impeccable easiness to get into the skin of the character is amazing. His dialogues when his actress shows her tantrums are hilarious and message oriented. On the whole his character exposes the pains and sufferings the unit crew experience while shooting for a movie. But his Hindi lip sync disturbs the minds of the audience as the dialogues of Nana Patekar look unfit for the Tamil audiences.
Actor Arjun plays the role of a sincere investigative CBI officer and looks cool in action scenes.
Kajal, Ranjtha and Rahgini play their respective Bommalattam characters up to the expected mark and succeed in exposing their acting skills.
The movie has everything to the mass and class audiences. The females’ skin show is also eye catching in some scenes and Bharathiraja is famous to portray his women in an artistic way.
The whole credit must be given to the director as the screenplay goes on a jet speed with not much off a drag and this makes the story even more interesting.
On the whole, Bommalattam is a worthy movie to be watched this weekend and so one can easily invest on this movie as it has some thrilling entertainment in it.
